French artist of the Paris School, Chaim Soutine (1893 - 1943) was born into a large Jewish family in the Belarusian town of Smilovichi.
Painting becomes his vocation, overcoming many obstacles, he makes his way to Paris, where begging and sometimes starving, he studies art. The Louvre has become his real university.
Soutine's works are in the best museums in the world.
