Endstation Bologna?

Ten years ago the Bologna Declaration was signed by education ministers from 29 countries as the foundation for a European space of higher education, which was to be completed by 2010. The student strike of 2009 drew attention to the issues still hampering the implementation of the Bologna Declaration in Germany. At the third conference of the German Education Union (GEW) experts from universities, ministries and associations critically analyzed the implementation of the Bologna Declaration in Germany.These conference papers are a compilation of the different expectations of the Bologna process and the discussions of the problems. After an appraisal of the current situation the experts concentrate on the resulting perspectives. The problems with the implementation in Germany are considered as well as new action areas and chances of intervention on an international level. The book ends with reflections regarding realistic expectations of the Bologna Process from 2010 to 2020 and a GEW forecast of Bologna after 2010.
