Rethinking Consciousness: A Scientific Theory of Subjective Experience
Michael Graziano
Michael Graziano, professor of psychology and neuroscience at Princeton University, author of the now-famous attention schema theory, presents a new theory of consciousness. According to her, what we call consciousness is actually a model of our own psyche. Gratiano argues that it is natural for people to create such models - even in relation to inanimate objects. The author puts forward a hypothesis of the origin of consciousness in the evolutionary series, describes, along with real ones, several intellectual experiments, dwells in detail on the phenomenon of social consciousness and offers a scenario of lifetime transfer of personality to artificial carriers for posthumous existence.
