It is the main story composed by Lovecraft in which the extraterrestrial element Cthulhu himself shows up.It is written in a narrative style, with three autonomous stories connected together by the gadget of a storyteller finding notes left by a perished relative. The storyteller sorts out every bit of relevant information and upsetting meaning of the data he has, representing the story's first line: "The most kind thing on the planet, I believe, is the powerlessness of the human psyche to correspond every one of its substance. We live on a tranquil island of obliviousness amidst dark oceans of boundlessness; and it was not implied that we should journey far."
